14 Daily Uses for Coconut Oil

coconutoilCoconut oil is the nectar of the Gods.

It's incredibly versatile (as you'll see from the many uses I list below), is full of many healing properties AND it's both a solid and a liquid. Take that Chemistry 101.

While first thought of to be avoided due to the high content of saturated fats, later research shows that coconut oil is heart healthy. That being said, I do advise you not to consume mountains of it day in and day out. Like with all things, moderation is a good approach here.

Much of saturated fat of coconut oil is lauric acid. That's a medium chain fatty acid which is why it's actually not as damaging to our arteries, cholesterol and blood pressure as originally thought.

Phew.

Because coconut oil is everywhere in my house and not a day goes by where I don't use it.

I've got a tub in my kitchen and another tub in my bathroom. If you do have multiple uses for coconut oil (and you should after this post!) I'd recommend keeping separate jars, one for the bathroom/bedroom for personal use and another in the kitchen for all your cooking needs.

And yes, coconut oil is both a solid below 76 degrees and a liquid in warmer temperatures. Only in New England can my coconut oil be liquid one night and then a solid less than 12 hours later in the morning.
