Three years ago, I made one of the best decisions of my life. It was the summer of 2010 and I had just returned from a trip around the world.
In a few short weeks, I was off to live in Barcelona for what was to be another year.
And I was at a crossroads in my life, looking ahead at my future and it sure as hell wasn't clear. Truth be told, the last paycheck I received was in January of 2009. Believe me, I was ready, willing and itching to work! After spending spending spending on my travels around the world (and previous stints of living in Spain in 2008), income was a fine idea. Sure, earning money again was a driving factor, but there was something else going on.
More than just earning money, I wanted to use my brain. I wanted to have something that was I was excited to get out of bed and do. I wanted to marry my interests and passions and contribute to the greater good. Yup, I wanted make the world a better place. I wanted to be a contributing member of society and not just collecting passport stamps. (Not knocking that as a career choice, fret not!)
The economy was still in the toilet and my career choices, seemed, well, overwhelming. I had a classic case of "I-don't-know-what-I-want-to-do-but-I-sure-know-what-I-don't-want-to-do."
Where to start? I was 31 years old and the idealistic, dreamer part of me hadn't given up.
I was convinced it wasn't too late to search for that "ideal" job. Ya know, the one where you're doing what you love so it doesn't seem like work? The job where your friends are envious of your schedule, your day to day because you just seem to have it so good? The job that you honestly, truly, love.
I wanted one of those jobs and was convinced, believed and imagine it was out there.
Turns out, I was spot on (and then some!)
Enter stage right, the Institute of Integrative Nutrition, the world's largest nutrition school and world class training program to become a Certified Health Coach.
That summer of 2010 I enrolled. Immediately my career crossroads became very, very clear to me.
That life changing decision was made three years ago. Two years ago this month, I graduated from the program and haven't looked back since.
In fact, every day I give thanks to the Institute of Integrative Nutrition for helping me make my dreams come true. Bonus? I get to help other amazing, kick a** men and women's dreams get on top of their health game.
